SCIRT traffic update - from 19 August, 2013
Central city
Kilmore St is reopening from this weekend from the Victoria / Durham St intersection to Park Terrace.
Moorhouse Ave will be one lane eastbound over the Colombo St overbridge from Monday 19 August for two or three days, mainly affecting
the evening peak hours. The lane alongside the overbridge eastbound will stay available. Electronic signs are
advertising the change.
Victoria St, from Peterborough to Kilmore St, past the Christchurch Casino, will be southbound only for a month. Drivers will not be able to turn onto Victoria St
off Kilmore or Durham St. SCIRT’s Fletcher team is renewing manholes, wastewater main pipes in the street and laterals
to businesses.

Montreal St will be reduced to one lane from Salisbury St to Bealey Ave for three months.

Cambridge Terrace/ Durham St North – work site and progress update
SCIRT’s Fletcher team has made good progress and completed the wastewater repairs (main in the street and laterals to
properties) between Hereford St/Cambridge Terrace back to Gloucester St. The work site is now shifting north to the
Armagh St intersection with Durham St, heading back to Gloucester St. This work is on schedule for completion early
October.

Outside the Four Avenues
Approach road to State Highway 74 at North New Brighton, northbound only
Frosts Road (which links Mairehau Road and Anzac Drive, SH74) is going one-way, northbound, as SCIRT’s Downer team
rebuilds this road alongside the QEII site. The first stage will take six weeks. Beach Road and Bower Ave is the
southbound detour. More work in the Travis Road/ Anzac Drive roundabout area and on Frosts Road will follow in October

New Brighton Road/ Bower Ave intersection closure
Fulton Hogan’s Bower Ave/ Ascot Reserve big wastewater pipe project will close New Brighton Road at Bower Ave from the

Keyes Road/ Hawke St, New Brighton
Southbound lane closure from 19 August between this intersection and New Brighton Road roundabout. Detour via Keyes Road

Hills Road, Richmond, block north of Edgeware Road, watch for changes to two-way
This segment of Hills Road will go one-way during the week starting 19 August. The detour is down Warden, Slater, Dudley
Streets, 30kph restriction and Stop signs on Slater St. The road has been one-way northbound through this stretch in

Centaurus Road, near the St Martins Scout Den to the roundabout with Armstrong Ave
Drivers should be prepared for delays as a stop/ go manual traffic system will be in place outside the Scout Den for a
week while the gravity wastewater pipe is replaced. There will be no right hand turn from Centaurus Road into
Hillsborough Terrace or traffic exit from Hillsborough Terrace onto Centaurus Road. This work will take until early
