Action Promised for Manurewa
The Manurewa Action Team is launching its election campaign for the  Manurewa Local Board and Wiri Licencing Trust tomorrow at the Nathan Homestead.
Councillor Sir John Walker will be launching the campaign which will be positive and focussed on the issues which matter for local residents in Manurewa.
Manurewa Action Team Leader Angela Dalton says she is pleased to be putting forward a strong team of community-focused leaders who are promising to spend the next three years taking action on the issues which matter for Manurewa.
"There are a lot of tough issues facing Manurewa, but that won't stop us doing what we can to make a real difference to the lives of individuals and communities in Manurewa." Ms Dalton Says.
"Whether that is ridding our community of the sale of psychoactive drugs, or tackling the proliferation of liquor stores in Manuerwa, we will be doing all we can to make our communities safer and more desirable.
"By having this majority, we have enabled the development of Riverton Reserve, Netball Manurewa has been retained at Browns Road and re-developed, we have enabled private CCTV cameras in Wattle Downs and we have obtained resource consent to begin removing up to 19 hectares of Mangroves along our foreshore.
"Re-elected with a majority on the board and on the Wiri Licencing Trust we will be able to continue the work we have done over the past three years and ensure we can build on our successes.
"With the amalgamation of Auckland into one council there have been significant challenges. However, by having a majority of Manurewa ACTION Team members around the Local Board table we have been able to take ACTION for Manurewa, advocate for what matters to you and ensure that your voice is heard loud and clearly above the other 20 Local Board’s in Auckland.
"We are standing community-focussed leaders for the Manuerwa Local Board and the Wiri Licencing Trust and are endorsing Calum Penrose and Sir John Walker to continue as the Manurewa-Papakura Councillors. They are outstanding advocates for our community." Says Ms Dalton.
The Manurewa Action Team Launch will be taking place on Saturday afternoon at the Nathan Homestead in the heart of Manurewa. The Manurewa Action Team will be running a professional and positive campaign focussed on the issues which matter to the residents of Manurewa.
