Judges select West business finalists
Twenty-one local businesses were announced as finalists in the 2013 Westpac Auckland West Business Awards last night at a special event held at The Trusts Stadium.
Finalists in the Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED)-run awards represent a broad mix of businesses including construction, retail, and food sectors.
The awards attracted more than 100 entries across eight categories in a revitalised format showcasing new categories and a judging system based on international standards.
ATEED’s Chief Executive Brett O’Riley believes the annual awards are an important economic growth programme for Auckland.
“Businesses should constantly analyse their performance and look for growth opportunities to ensure long-term success. ATEED’s business awards, which are run in Auckland’s north, west and south, offer businesses the chance to review their current offering, build their capability and celebrate with their peers. It’s the ideal chance to look internally at the business as well as celebrate externally with the community,” says Brett O’Riley.
Nigel Perkins, Area Manager Business Banking North/West, Westpac New Zealand Limited, is impressed with the calibre of finalists.
“These awards are a pinnacle in the West Auckland business community, which is why Westpac is proud to be a supporter of the awards here and in other areas around the country,” says Nigel Perkins.
“We’re thrilled to once again be associated with these prestigious awards in West Auckland and we’re looking forward to acknowledging the winners later this year.”
Winners will be announced at a black-tie gala dinner on Thursday, 17 October 2013. Tickets are available at BusinessAucklandNZ.com/Awards.
