Trashy by Design
The 130 finalists announced for Schools Trash to Fashion ’13 competition will take to the runway to show off their fresh
and innovative designs on Saturday 24 August with winners announced at the already sold out show on Sunday 25 August.
This Auckland Council delivered initiative is a fun and engaging way to spread the word about recycling, reusing and
reducing waste by giving students a practical yet creative opportunity to turn rubbish into high fashion and moveable
art.
“There are some amazing entries this year, with material used from all areas of life and by students all across the
region,” says Kaye Glamuzina, Auckland Council’s Arts and Culture Manager.
“The theme this year is Celebrate Individuality and the emerging talent that we have seen from all over Auckland truly makes this one of New Zealand’s most
individualistic and vibrant events. Everyone can come along to the Corban Estate Arts Centre in Henderson and take a
look at these amazing designs.”
