New board appointment for ATEED
Auckland Mayor Len Brown has welcomed the appointment of Helen Robinson to the board of Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED).
Ms Robinson was appointed as director of the board at Auckland Council’s CCO Strategy Review Subcommittee on Wednesday 7 August.
“Helen has been a leader in the technology sector for more than 25 years. She is an experienced director and currently the Chair of The Network for Learning Ltd (N4L), a new crown entity charged with improving educational outcomes by transforming schools to technology-based learning environments,” says Len Brown.
"Developing and retaining a highly skilled work force is a critical goal in Auckland's economic development strategy, as is addressing youth unemployment. Helen's insight through N4L and her experience in Auckland's fastest growing industry, ICT, will be critical as ATEED further develops its plans in these areas.”
ATEED Board Chair, David McConnell, says Helen’s expertise and experience will be of great value as ATEED works towards improving New Zealand’s economic prosperity by leading the successful transformation of Auckland’s economy.
“Helen has a genuine passion and drive for innovation and technology. She brings strong business and industry connections from an extensive career in New Zealand and internationally, as a leader of global businesses including Pivotal Corporation and Microsoft New Zealand,” says David McConnell.
Helen Robinson was the founding CEO of the TZ1 Registry which was acquired by London based Markit Group Ltd in 2009, where she continued to act as Global Managing Director, Environmental Markets until mid-2011.
Ms Robinson will join ATEED on 1 September 2013, filling the vacancy created by the retirement of Andy Higgs in late June 2013.
The council’s CCO Strategy Review Subcommittee is responsible for all board appointments to substantive CCOs and Watercare.
