Ashburton Art Gallery Media release
Lucy soon to leave the Gallery
You may be familiar with her face in the paper, heard her on the radio, or know her as the convenor of the Gallery’s art
education programme. Sadly it won’t be for much longer as Lucy Sharp the Publicity Officer/Technician at the Ashburton
Art Gallery will be leaving town at the end of the month.
“I have learnt a tremendous amount here at the Gallery, with it being such a small tight knit team you truly get to
experience all aspects of working in the creative sector. This August marks my three year anniversary working here, and
as much as I absolutely love my role, I am ready to move on, and sink my teeth into a new challenge.
The hardest people I had to break the news to (other than Shirin and Ali) were my loyal little Jub Jub members. I have
built up quite a rapport with the group, some of whom have been coming since my very first session. So not running the
art activities and seeing them every second Sunday will be something that I will miss the most.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone whom I have had the pleasure of working with over the last few
years, as cliché as it sounds, it is the people that make this job so enjoyable and rewarding.”
Lucy is moving up to Christchurch in September with her partner Sam. With her qualifications and skills sets she has
learnt from the Gallery she is looking to progress her career in the creative sector.
