Joint media statement from: Hayley Robinson, Sridhar Ekambaram, Malcolm Aitken, Sarah Free, David Lee and Jacob Toner;
candidates for Council 2013
Cooperative politics in Wellington
Six of the new candidates for the position of Councillor in this year's Wellington Local body elections are already
cooperating and communicating on a regular basis. Hayley Robinson, Sridhar Ekambaram, Malcolm Aitken (all running in the
Onslow-Western Ward), along with Sarah Free of the Eastern Ward, David Lee and Jacob Toner of the Southern Ward, are
planning events, physically meeting to discuss issues and ensuring that each knows about upcoming events and deadlines.
The purpose is to demonstrate from the word go that voters have a choice if they are looking to elect candidates who,
despite their differences, all have Wellington and its people as their absolute priority.
"We hope ratepayers and residents will see some, or all, of us as viable alternatives," says Onslow-Western Council
candidate Hayley Robinson, "We won't always agree; we'll have healthy debates, and then we will get on with the business
of keeping Wellington moving."
