Wet Weekend Weather Adds to Outages
Wet Weekend Weather Adds to Outages
Network Summary for week ending 11 August 2013
ELECTRICITY
There was one car vs
pole incident in Mt Wellington during the week. However, the
inclement weather and slippery roads over the weekend saw
another six car v pole incidents in Mangere, Hillsborough,
Clevedon, Titirangi, Massey and Kumeu.
There was a spate
of fires across the region with our crews being called out
to eight separate incidents from Sandspit in the North, to
Central Auckland, and South to Otahuhu. Vector crews
isolated the power quickly and secured the
premises.
GAS TRANSMISSION AND
DISTRIBUTION
There was one incident where a
contractor struck a gas pipe in Hamilton while carrying out
work in the area. A smell of gas was also reported in
Mangere East and Bucklands Beach. In the Bucklands Beach
incident, urgent repairs were required to a gas pipe struck
by third party contractors and the work was completed
quickly.
PROJECTS
The
$8 million upgrade in Rosedale Road, Auckland is well
underway with the installation of two kilometres of ducting
complete and the construction of a substation about to
begin.
The work is part of a major upgrade to strengthen
and secure power into the area. Cabling will be installed
through the ducts in the later part of this year in
conjunction with the electrical installation works at the
