Man Critically Injured in Christchurch

At around 4.00am today, Christchurch hospital advised police a male had arrived at the Accident and Emergency Department with injuries described as critical. 

Police staff are currently at the hospital attempting to ascertain the circumstances around his injury. 

Police have closed the west bound lane of Harper Avenue to preserve a scene that may provide evidence relating to this matter. Traffic delays can be expected. Motorists are asked to be patient and choose alternative routes that avoid the area if possible.

Christchurch CIB members are continuing their investigations into this matter.

Anyone who may have witnessed an incident in Harper Avenue in the early hours of Sunday morning is asked to contact the Christchurch Police on (03) 3637400.
