Stephen Berry Standing for Waitemata Local Board
Affordable Auckland’s Stephen Berry has announced today that he will be giving Auckland ratepayers maximum opportunity to have an elected representative who truly champions the interests of the ratepayer and property owner. He is now also lodging a candidacy for the Waitemata Local Board.
“If elected to the Waitemata Local Board, I’ll be promoting quality spending of the money allocated by the Council. Funding proper infrastructure and facilities should take priority over the frittering of ratepayer funds on the planting of fruit trees, which the current board supported in 2012..”
Mr. Berry is supportive of proposed plans to alter the layout of the Three Lamps area adjoining Ponsonby Road so the one way road becomes two way. “I have experienced many a frustrating traffic snarl up in that area, so I will enthusiastically back any steps that can be taken to improve traffic flow.”
The candidate will also be standing up for the rights of property owners, supporting flexible zoning rules and streamlined consent procedures. “I know of many a resident in the Waitemata board area who have had their dreams dashed by restrictive heritage laws and nosy neighbours. A vote for me will elect an advocate for property owners doing what they like with their land as long as it does not impede the rights of other property owners to do the same.”
This announcement brings to three the positions Mr. Berry will be contesting. He is the Affordable Auckland candidate for Mayor, Waitemata & Gulf ward and now also Waitemata Local Board.
