News Release

Marsh Donates Money to the Cancer Society of New Zealand Inc

Auckland, 8 August, 2013 – Marsh, a global leader in insurance broking and risk management, today announced that the winner of its charity polling competition is the Cancer Society of New Zealand Inc.

On 3 July 2013, Marsh announced that it would donate $5,500 to a charity in celebration of its 55th anniversary in New Zealand. The public were asked to vote on the Marsh website for one of four charities that they would like the money to be donated to.

The Cancer Society was a clear winner.

“We are delighted to be able to present this money to the Cancer Society” said Grant Milne, Country Head of Marsh New Zealand. “Many people are affected by cancer each year. We hope therefore that this donation can be used as a small contribution to the wonderful work that the Society does to support cancer sufferers and their families.”

The Cancer Society of New Zealand Inc is thrilled to learn it won the charity poll run by Marsh during July.

Philip Hope, National Manager Development, Cancer Society of New Zealand Inc. said; "Our sincere thanks to everyone that voted for our cause, and I say this appreciating many of the staff and clients of Marsh support the Cancer Society throughout the year in conjunction with their work."

"The Cancer Society is the leading non-government organisation dedicated to reducing the incidence and impact of cancer and the generous donation of $5,500 (a celebration gift) we have received in conjunction with Marsh's 55th birthday will be directed to support our work."

"Whilst the Cancer Society won the charity poll and we received more than 56% of the votes, this doesn't take away from the three other charities; Arthritis New Zealand, Stroke Foundation and Life Education Trust, who also do great work."

The donation of $5,500 adds to the more than $55,000 that Marsh has already given to New Zealand charities over the last 18 months, along with many hours of staff volunteer leave.
