Planning for the Future in And Around Ngaruawahia

7 August 2013

Planning for the Future in And Around Ngaruawahia

Residents from Ngaruawahia, Glen Massey, Taupiri and Horotiu are being invited to one of four information days where they can share their views about long term development in their towns.

Waikato District Council is in the early stages of working on a structure plan for this area, with the information days the first steps in developing a long term framework for the area.

The information days are on August 14,15, 21 and 22 and offer an opportunity for residents to find out more about what is involved in the process, to share their views, and decide if they wish to be more involved by being part of a reference group. Ratepayers in the area have been sent a flyer inviting them to the information days, and posters have been distributed to shops and other public areas to publicise the four days.

Tony Whittaker, General Manager Strategy and Support, says the information days are a good opportunity for residents to play a part in the future of their town.

“We’re keen to hear from residents about how they would like to see their area develop to meet future growth and the needs of their community. Come along and learn about the opportunities and constraints in this area, share your views with our planning team, and if you want to play a bigger part then join up to be a member of the reference group.”

The same information will be shared at each session:
• Weds 14 August, Glen Massey School, 3-7pm
• Thurs 15 August, Ngaruawahia Memorial Hall, 2-7pm
• Weds 21 August, Horotiu School Hall, 3-7pm
• Thurs 22 August, Taupiri War Memorial Hall (Greenlane Hall), 3-7pm

An additional information day is also being planned for the Te Kowhai area for September.
