Digital Maturity Business Survey will help companies grow the region’s digital economy
Businesses are being encouraged to go online and take part in a survey that will inform the Wellington region’s economic development strategy and help assist in the development of Digital Action Plans and initiatives to capitalise on the economic benefits of the digital economy.
Wellington Regional Strategy Committee has engaged consultancy firm Gravelroad to undertake a survey of about 1500 organisations to gain an insight into the readiness, willingness, and ability of the region’s business community to participate in the digital economy.
The Digital Maturity Business Survey will be used to not only enhance our understanding about the digital needs of the region, it will also assist local businesses by providing each survey participant with an individual scorecard of their results. This scorecard will show them what other businesses like them are doing with digital technology and it will highlight some options available to improve productivity, customer service and create new wealth through the better use of digital technology.
“We are encouraging business owners and managers to take part in the survey to help us gain a greater understanding of the digital needs of our region. Many of our companies are operating online and are contributing to our digital economy and this survey will help us develop plans for the future to ensure that their needs are being met,” Wellington Regional Strategy Committee Chair, Sir John Anderson, says.
“The businesses taking part will not only be assisting the councils in gathering data to help set our Digital Action Plans, they will also get insight into their digital maturity compared to other organisations like theirs to identify areas where they could potentially benefit by utilising digital technologies.
“By taking the time to go online for five minutes, businesses can gain a clearer picture about how they can be better using the internet to grow our region’s digital economy and also create new avenues of income for their companies.”
The Wellington Regional Strategy Committee is a committee of Greater Wellington Regional Council. Its members comprise the mayors of each of the region’s territorial authorities and five independent members appointed for their specialist skills and expertise.
