Time to ‘Unblock the Gridlock’ says Waitakere Council Candidate Christine Rose
West Auckland needs an urgent gridlock fix says newly declared Waitakere Ward Councillor candidate, Christine Rose. “Streets in the Henderson-Massey area are blocked to a standstill at times” she says. “Streets feeding into and including Lincoln Road, such as Central Park Drive and Triangle Road are choked to standing point for many parts of the day. This costs West Aucklanders time, energy and money that none of us can afford. In the morning, even full buses are stuck for up to 40 minutes trying to get onto the motorway from Triangle Road. West Auckland’s gridlock needs fixing”.
Mrs Rose was the previous Chair of the Auckland Regional Council’s Transport Committees which oversaw the development of Auckland’s recent transport improvements. She says the Henderson-Massey area now needs an urgent, proper traffic study and solution.
“We’ve got clear transport problems, and need investment to ‘unblock the gridlock”. “We’ve got New Zealand’s largest supermarket on Lincoln Road, and another one coming. Gridlock in the area is only going to get worse”.
“We all know how bad traffic is in this area. Westies already face huge disruption on the North Western Motorway and many residents face a long enough commute to work without being stuck in traffic, even before they reach the motorway”. Christine says “West Aucklanders would rather be at home with their families, not stuck in traffic”. “It’s time to unblock the gridlock”.
