Shaken, not stirred
How can you remain calm and positive while facing challenges in your life?
Wellingtonians are invited to a series of free presentations by international speaker, Sukhvinder Bindra, on natural ways to reduce stress and tension and increase good energy and a sense of belongingness within communities.
He will discuss the root cause of stress and also provide insight into using the power of breath to reduce stress.
Bindra is an international teacher with the Art of Living Foundation, which was started by the spiritual leader and humanitarian, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in 1981.
“We underestimate the effect of stress in our day-to-day life,” he says. “We experience anxiety, worry and fear related to the future, or guilt and regrets over the past. It is helpful to understand how that works.
“Also, breath is our most vital source of energy, but we typically use only 30% of our lung capacity. Scientific research has shown that effective use of specific breathing techniques significantly reduces stress, as indicated by blood cortisol and lactate levels. People who learn good breathing techniques report that they feel lighter and freer, and their clarity of thought improves.”
