Parking tickets business as usual for Hutt City Council

Parking tickets business as usual for council

Hutt City Council’s chief executive, Tony Stallinger, says concerns raised about the validity of the council’s parking tickets are unfounded.

“The council has had legal advice and under central government legislation, it has been able to, and can continue to issue parking fines in the time restricted areas.

Council will be considering amending the current bylaw to remove any ambiguity in legislation.

People who have been issued infringements in the time restricted areas must continue to pay their fines. It is business as usual for the council”.

Mr Stallinger says Hutt city is a busy place and parking time limit restrictions are important to give fair opportunities to everyone wishing to access our many services. Likewise many business owners rely on the public being able to access their services as readily as possible.

Council’s advice to residents is to please park correctly to avoid any future parking infringements.
