Gloucester Street Bridge closed for urgent repairs
Christchurch City Council has closed Gloucester Street Bridge for repairs.
Due to a structural issue staff engineers have recommended that the bridge be closed to vehicular traffic for urgent repairs.
Christchurch City Council Transport and Greenspace Unit Manager John Mackie says, “In the interest of the health and safety of all motorists, we are closing the bridge to traffic.
“Unfortunately we are unable to say how long the bridge will be closed for until further investigations are complete. We will let the public know as soon as can. The bridge will remain open to cyclists and pedestrians”
The Council advises all motorists that regularly use Gloucester Street Bridge, to factor the bridge closure into any future journey.”
