Changes to kids 'fish out' days
The popular ‘childrens ’ fish out’ days at Fish & Game’s Ngongotaha trout Hatchery have been re-organised to streamline procedures, to cut waiting times and make the
children’s fishing experience more enjoyable.
Eastern Fish & Game Officer Mark Sherburn says that a booking system has been introduced to try and ease the delays.
“The Rotorua Angler’s Association members who generously provide their time to teach the kids, can only handle a certain
number of fishers per hour. By working ahead with a booking system we hope to make life a little easier for these
volunteers – and more enjoyable for young anglers alike.”
Mr Sherburn urges parents and caregivers who are planning to bring their children to one of the days, to phone the Fish & Game office during office hours (07) 357 5501and make their booking. “Calling early will also enable people to pick and
choose their preferred fishing time,” Mr Sherburn says.
He says failing to book ahead could mean lengthy delays for those people until they are able to be fitted in.
The kids’ fish out days are for children aged six to 14 years-old, and are held at one of the hatchery’s trout pools,
Paradise Valley Road, Ngongotaha.
The next fish out day is on Sunday July 14, 2013.
