Short and Sweet - Teens Making Scenes and more, at Library Festival
Speech and Drama student, Claudia Cooke, and 20 other students from Making A Scene - Speech and Drama Academy, will be performing in Whangarei Central Library and The Strand Arcade as part of The New Zealand Post Children’s Book Award’s (Northland) Festival.
Claudia is participating in a performance of short scenes on Tuesday 18 June in the Children’s Room of Whangarei Central Library, from 3:45 to 4:30pm. The performance is based on four of the teen and junior fiction finalist books.
Children's Librarian Sue Scott has prepared a diverse programme of events for the public to attend, including The Storytime Character Hunt and Scenes for Teens - Staying Alive. There is also have an opportunity to meet Patricia Howitt, illustrator of one of the finalist books, Taketakerau – The Millennium Tree, on Wednesday 19 June at the library.
Speech and Drama teacher, Helen
Morton-Jones, is thrilled to be part of this year’s
events.
“This year’s festival theme, Living
Books, is at the core of what I teach in Speech and
Drama,” she said.
“Diving into well written books gives students an outlet for their imagination and helps them make sense of their world through drama.”
