Domino's $5000 Promotion Eases Financial Pressure

Media Release: 24 May, 2013

Domino's $5000 Promotion Eases Financial Pressure for Local Family Man

Winning Domino's Pizza Biggest Wage Promotion couldn't have come at a better time for a Dunedin family man whose work hours have recently almost halved.

Cycling teacher, Aaron Collins, has won $5000 for an hour's work at a Domino's store in Auckland, where he will join the team and make pizzas.

Collins, who has an 18-month-old daughter to his wife of three years, says winning the competition has eased the financial burden that comes with having a weather-dependant job.

"This will be the best money I've ever made - and not only because it will be the most fun I've had working, but because it will help me to support my family," he says.

"It will ease the financial pressure as we get through the winter months."

Domino's ran the Biggest Wage Promotion to find someone to promote its Pizza Sliders, in a bid to make the launch of the range one of the most successful in history.

Collins, 24, won his impressive prize by submitting a creative application to Domino's, suggesting some marketing concepts to endorse the popular individually-sized pizzas.

Domino's New Zealand General Manager, Josh Kilimnik, says Collins impressed the company with his idea of making the pizza boxes look like a Connect Four grid, along with tokens, in a nod to the four flavours in the Pizza Sliders range.

"We wanted to choose a winner who is innovative, and just as passionate about our brand as we are. Aaron fit the bill perfectly. He's a true pizza aficionado, whose creativity reflects our commitment to delivering a product that is always fresh and inventive."

Collins says his wife, a teaching fellow, is just as rapt as he is about his win.

"We are both pizza crazy - picking up a pizza is always our go-to takeaway option. She's asked me to bring her home a pizza from my shift in Auckland, but I hope she's joking!"

Collins will fly to Auckland in early June to do his $5000 one hour shift at a local Domino's.
