Media Release – 23 May 2013
QEII Site Update
Following testing of an area including the public walking track near QEII stadium, it has now been confirmed that there is no risk to the public from asbestos and the area has now been re-opened.
As advised last week, a small amount of asbestos piping was recently found buried at the QEII Stadium site during the demolition, and this has prompted some further investigation by CERA.
Testing is still ongoing at the QEII site and is likely to take a further five to six weeks.
Updates will be provided as soon as further information is available.
