Council adopts Plan Change recommendations
Christchurch City Council has adopted a modified plan change that enables the Highfield Park development in the city’s north.
The Highfield plan change will allow a living zone that will provide about 2200 homes in a 260 hectare area between Redwood, Queen Elizabeth II Drive and the Styx River.
The decision was made in line with recommendations by Hearings Commissioners.
Under the Resource Management Act process used to progress the plan change, the public has 30 days to appeal to the Environment Court. Once those appeals are resolved, the plan change can be added to the City Plan.
The Council also resolved that LIM reports be amended to include relevant publicly notified variations and plan changes relating to the property which is the subject of the LIM, with links to the documents.
Planning Committee chair Sue Wells said, “The inclusion of information on the LIM will give easier, clear access to the Council’s full decision, noting that it is still subject to appeal. This is a change in practice that will apply to all plan changes from now on it is not just for Highfield.”
