NETWORK SUMMARY for week ending 5 May 2013

STORM RESPONSE

Sunday’s storm, as predicted, predominantly affected the west and north of the city – and in particular coastal areas.

Vector ensured extra faults crews were rostered on, call centre staff were doubled and additional control room staff were on standby.

Over an eight hour period, from 10pm on Sunday to 6am Monday, there were 15 outages – ranging from smaller customer numbers impacted, up to 1400 customers.

The faults crews managed to get most customers restored quickly, however some outages presented more of a challenge and are being restored today.

ELECTRICITY – THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK

A member of the public and the Fire Service informed us of power lines down in Onehunga. Emergency repairs were made and power restored three hours later.

Lines were also reported down on properties in Mangere, Piha, Papatoetoe, on Waiheke Island and in Mt Albert during the week.

There was one car v pole accident which brought lines down on a major arterial road - The Drive, Epsom - during peak morning traffic. It took several hours to replace the pole, and get communication services up and running.

A transformer door was found open in Massey and was checked for safety within an hour. A damaged pillar was also reported in Clendon Park.

Our crews were called out to isolate power due to a house fire in One Tree Hill, Mission Bay and Te Atatu.
