FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 29/4/13

In just over two weeks the future generation of young farmers will be put through their paces at the Grand Final for the AgriKidsNZ and TeenAg Competitions held at Kumeu Showgrounds Auckland, Friday 17th May.

Under the Young Farmers family, AgriKidsNZ is a national club aimed at promoting agriculture to primary school age children and TeenAg is a network of clubs throughout New Zealand designed for high school students.

From the seven Regional Finals the top three teams from each competition have made their way through to the Grand Final where they will be tested on all things farming.

The first round involves the 21 teams from around the country attempting to complete seven ten-minute modules, a written exam, and an orienteering challenge. They will be judged by not only completing the tasks in the allotted time, but the quality of their workmanship as well.

“All the competitors are really excited. They are contending for some great prizes like toy tractors, Warriors jerseys, clothing, and, of course, the 2013 Champion title”, commented Josie Hampton, AgriKidsNZ & TeenAg Project Leader.

The AgriKidsNZ & TeenAg Competitions are being held alongside the 2013 ANZ Young Farmer Contest Grand Final, be sure to catch all the action Friday 17 May at the Kumeu Showgrounds in Auckland.
