Kopu Link Road Works Complete

Kopu Link Road Works Complete

Works to complete the 400m link between Kopu Road and the roundabout at the intersection of State Highways 25 and 26 are now finished, the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advised today.

NZTA State Highway Manager Kaye Clark said the NZTA is pleased this essential section of road at the southern end of Kopu is complete.

“The link road, which will be owned by Thames Coromandel District Council (TCDC), will provide good access for motorists between the State Highway network and the Kopu industrial area. The new section of road will shorten travel times and improve safety for motorists from Kopu heading to Paeroa and Auckland or Hamilton,” she said.

The new road has a combined footpath cycle way which links to the bridge underpass and into the village, providing improved access for walkers and cyclists.

“The NZTA and TCDC also used the opportunity to improve the capacity of the stream which runs parallel to the link road, remove an undersized culvert and install an extra diversion culvert,” Mrs Clark said.

TCDC Communications and Economic Development Manager Ben Day says the Kopu business sign will be up by end of May.
