Cuppa with Council

Cuppa with Council - Media Advisory Monday 15 April 2013

The Queenstown Lakes District community is being invited to come for a chat and a cuppa this week to talk about the draft Annual Plan, QLDC communications manager Meaghan Miller said.

“It’s a very informal opportunity to talk about Council’s key projects and meet elected members and senior staff. It has been very well received in the past so we wanted to create the opportunity again,” she said.

The draft Annual Plan summary would be inserted in the Mirror Newspaper on Wednesday and the Wanaka Sun on Thursday, this week.

It’s already online on the Council website www.qldc.govt.nz, as is the draft Annual Plan. I really encourage people to have a look at the key issues and bring your questions along to the cuppa. This year Council was encouraging all residents and ratepayers to make their submission online.

“We understand there are some people who don’t have that technology and that’s fine, they can contact us through traditional means but for the majority we are asking they use the online form, mainly because it streamlines what can be a resource heavy process and people simply prefer the convenience and immediacy,” Ms Miller said.

The Cuppa with the Council will be held at the Queenstown Council Chamber on Wednesday 17 April from 10-11am and at the Wanaka Council Office on Thursday 18 April from 10-11am.

“Everyone is very welcome,” she said.
