Residents invited to meeting on council draft Annual Plan

Residents invited to public meeting on council draft Annual Plan

Rotorua District Council (RDC) is inviting residents to a public meeting on Wednesday evening (17 April) to discuss proposals contained in its 2013/14 draft Annual Plan.

Wednesday’s meeting is at 5pm at the council Civic Centre with councillors and senior managers in attendance. Also attending will be representatives of Bay of Plenty Regional Council to talk about their draft Annual Plan.

RDC Corporate & Customer services group manager Jean-Paul Gaston said the public meeting was a good opportunity for residents to ask questions and find out what’s in the draft Annual Plan, and why.

“I encourage Rotorua residents to come along and discuss the plan with us, and find out more about the services we’re proposing to provide for our community in the coming year.

“It’s important that people take the chance to not only make submissions on anything in the draft plan they want changed but to also make sure they tell the mayor and councillors about those elements of the plan they support. The council needs to know which of its proposals are backed by the community.”

The draft Annual Plan proposes an overall increase in RDC rates to be collected in 2013/14 of less than one per cent.

The full 120 page draft Annual Plan and online submission forms are available on the RDC website www.rdc.govt.nz.

Summaries of the plan and submission forms can also be picked up from the council Customer Centre, City Focus and Library, or at the public meeting on Wednesday evening.

Submissions close at 4pm on Friday 3 May 2013.
