Gaming machine numbers fall in Palmerston North
Department of Internal Affairs statistics show the number of gaming machines operating in Palmerston North has fallen to 386 compared with 432 in December 2012.
The closure of four gaming venues in Palmerston North has led to this decline.
The venues are:
• Central Race
Place TAB,18 machines
• Awapuni Motor Hotel,18
machines
• Malbas,18 machines
•
Palmerston North RSA, 18 machines.
Palmerston North has
395 gaming machines that have consent to operate, however,
only 386 were in operation during March this year.
Palmerston North City Council policy analyst Peter Ridge
says the number of gaming machines with consent to operate
is below the cap of 400 machines set by the Palmerston North
Class 4 Gaming Machine Venue Policy.

note:
The figures above include the White Horse
Inn in Longburn, the Bunnythorpe Tavern and the Bunnythorpe
and District Country Club which are now part of the
Palmerston North area. The Department of Internal Affairs
still show these venues as part of the Manawatu
District.
