Kakariki chicks and kaka galore
Kakariki chicks and kaka galore
There is a lot happening at Pukaha at the moment!
We have an aviary full of kakariki. Here you can see a picture of one of them being fed when they were younger and if you click here you’ll be able to see them learning to fly.
If you click here you can also see a four month old kaka as it learns to talk. The kaka circus is one for the ‘not to miss’ list this year. Watching the cheeky birds swoop in to get their food – never too worried about how close they get to their audience – is always entertaining!
We had a wonderful evening at Pukaha recently where we managed to raise over $10,000 that will go directly towards restoring the beautiful forest and wildlife at Pukaha. Twenty-four items were generously donated by local businesses and supporters that were auctioned off to some very energetic bidding! You can see Ray Spencer, the auctioneer, in full swing draining every cent from almost every wallet in the room!
We are very grateful to
everyone involved in the
evening.
