Rotorua housing information session for newcomers and migrants

Rotorua District Council, Settlement Support NZ and Citizens Advice Bureau are holding a free information evening on housing in New Zealand for local migrants and newcomers to the city.

The session is on Wednesday 10 April from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at the RDC Civic Centre.

There will be presentations on renting, buying a first home in New Zealand, and jargon and legal matters that people should be aware of. Each 15 minute presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.

RDC Settlement Support coordinator Heather McAllister said every country has its own jargon and legalities so it’s always helpful for newcomers and migrants to know the local way of doing things.

“The information evening is suitable for anyone new to Rotorua, whether they’ve moved here from Christchurch, Capetown, Chengdu or Canberra. Things are always changing so people need to be up-to-date with tenants’ rights and obligations, and with the housing and rental market in Rotorua.”

Registrations are essential. Contact Heather McAllister at Rotorua District Council on 07 351 7054 or email heather.mcallister@rdc.govt.nz
