Great Easter day out at Te Waimate
Great Easter day out at Te Waimate
Easter Saturday is shaping up to be a great day out for families wanting to enjoy the long weekend break.
Te Waimate Mission Station – the NZ Historic Places Trust property at Waimate North – is organising a Fun Day on Easter Saturday (March 30).
The day will kick off with a talk by Mita Harris, the Manager of Te Waimate Mission, who will share some of the more fascinating stories behind New Zealand’s second oldest house, followed by a ‘walk and talk’ around the Mission site with volunteer gardeners. Entry to Te Waimate Mission House will be half price [$5 for adults; children free] and visitors will be able to enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee with one of the Kerikeri Bakehouse’s legendary Hot Cross Buns.
A range of crafts will be on display in the Mission grounds including Jewellery making (10am-12 noon); Free motion quilting (11am-3pm); flax weaving and spinning.
Philippine the Juggler will entertain the kids between 10am and noon – including teaching children how to make their own juggling balls. Face-painting will also take place between 10am and 3pm, with chocolate treats and other goodies available throughout the day.
“If people are looking for a relaxed, chilled place to go this Easter Saturday, Te Waimate’s the place to be,” says Mita.
“We’re looking forward to a lovely Fun Day out, which will have something for everyone.”
