Council Risks Government Intervention with Release of Plan
The Draft Unitary Plan released today focused on Auckland becoming a more compact city with more infill housing, terraced housing and multi storey apartments.
This Plan does nothing to address the critical shortage of land the city is facing, said Clr Quax.
“In the last week we have learned that Auckland has less than 2,000 sections available to be built on as of today. The mayor has claimed that there are 15,000 sections ready to be built on and this Plan was written with these kinds of incorrect figures to work from.”
“The Government has now seen just how dire the land supply situation is in Auckland and there is a risk that it will remove the council’s planning authority.”
