Wellington move on consultation welcomed by Lower Hutt Mayor Ray Wallace
Mayor of Lower Hutt Ray Wallace has welcomed a decision by the Wellington City Council’s Strategy and Policy Committee to consult on a modified status quo option for local government reorganisation alongside two super city options.
“Our community has consistently told us through two rounds of consultation they would like to see existing boundaries retained with more shared services.
“I am very pleased to see Wellington has taken a pragmatic stance and acknowledged the views of Lower Hutt residents.
“Wellington city intends to confer with the Great Wellington Regional Council working committee and hopefully the working group will also support their decision,” Mayor Wallace says.
