NZ Book Month comes to Lower Hutt

Hutt City Council joins The Friends of Hutt City Libraries and Paper Plus Lower Hutt to promote New Zealand Book Month throughout Hutt City.

New Zealand Book Month is held every year in March and it’s a month-long celebration of books and reading events across New Zealand.

The event will kick off on Wednesday 13 March through till Saturday 16 March with a great line-up of local authors:

Wednesday 13 March: Warwick Johnston and Paul Wah will talk about their recent and possibly future books at the Petone Library, Britannia Street, Petone from 7pm. All are welcome – entry Koha.

Friday 15 March: Children’s authors, Fifi Colston and Janice Marriott, will be giving a talk to younger classes in local schools. Fifi will be at Avalon, Pomare and Pukeatua schools and Janice will be at Tui Glen, Koranui and Naenae. This event is only for pupils at these schools.

Saturday 16 March: Joe Bennett, Alex Hedley and Donna Malane will each speak in a panel discussion at the Dowse Art Museum, Laings Road, Lower Hutt. Broadcaster Richard Langston will chair the discussion. Wine and nibbles at 6.30pm, panel discussion starts at 7pm. All are welcome - $10 per head. Pre-ticket sales will be available from Paper Plus on High Street and at the War Memorial Library.
