NETWORK SUMMARY for week ending 17 February 2013
ELECTRICITY
Our electrical response crews attended six car v poles during the week in Oranga, Pakuranga, Onehunga, Glen Innes,
Papatoetoe and Penrose; and seven building fires where they were called to make the sites safe.
In Orewa police notified Vector that a light was hanging from a power pole. Crews isolated and removed the streetlight
head and all wiring was made safe.
A feeder fault in Birkdale caused an outage affecting a number of customers and in New Lynn a tree trimmer brought down
a branch onto several lines resulting in an outage affecting 700 customers.
In central Auckland, water running into a trench submerged a transformer. The water was pumped out and repairs were
made.
GAS TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION
There were two third party strikes on our network caused by a contractor and a member of the public hitting the pipe.
Repairs were made.
In Gisborne, a school was evacuated after a member of the public noticed a possible smell of gas. Crews isolated the gas
to the school and checked all the classrooms but detected no readings. Following further investigation, the site was
declared safe, the gas supply was restored and the students returned to lessons.
