Revamped PGT: all ages, all abilities, all amazing!
Revamped PGT: all ages, all abilities, all amazing!
This Porirua iconic multisport event is in its 8th year and this year the event has undergone a makeover, both in looks (new website, new logo, new marketing material) and in course routes (new MTB course, slightly shorter run course with more off road running, and the start & finish will be all from the same 'hub').
As the new tagline 'All ages, All abilities, All amazing' already indicates, the emphasis of this year's event is on participation for all. With 5 different event options to choose from, there is something for everyone:
Multisport / Duathlon
MTB only
Mt Run only
Fun Run / Walk
Youth Challenge
For more information on the event itself see our website (www.pgt.org.nz) and/or check out the flyer attached.
We are working hard on putting on a stellar event and focus in particular on creating a community vibe around the event. So far we've already gathered heaps of local / community support from local organisations such as:
Porirua City Council
Mana Community Trust
Whitireia Polytech
Ngati
Toa
And from lots of local companies, such as:
Arena
Fitness centre - who provide each participant that enters
now, with free membership up until race day,
Henshaw
Signs – who are printing and putting up banners for us
(Paremata Bridge and Railway station);
Tommys Real
estate - who together with Henshaw Signs are providing us
with street signs to go up in Porirua, Wellington and the
Hutt;
Rainbow Creative- who have printed a huge
amount of posters & flyers for us to distribute;
Newstalk ZB - who are promoting us via their radio
channels;
And many more generous sponsors who provide
us with either spot prizes or registration pack
goodies
The course changes were in response to public feedback (we ran an online 10 question survey in October 2012 to gather opinions on the event) and have kept everyone in the loop via regular email updates and our interactive Facebook Page which is growing each week.
Additionally, the PGT team will be hosting 2 reccies of the new MTB course, for the public to join in and explore the course:
Tuesday 26 Feb, 5.30pm from the Mini Golf on Wineera Drive
(next to Whitireia Polytech)
Wednesday 6 March,
5.30pm from the Mini Golf on Wineera Drive (next to
Whitireia Polytech)
Lastly, Marcel Hagener - multisport legend, who has won the multisport discipline as part of the PGT several times in the past, is coming down in early March to check out the new courses and provide us with his opinion. He's just back from racing overseas in China and has a very busy racing calendar up his sleeves.
