Maketu Kaimoana Festival – Saturday 16 February 2013
Tourism Bay of Plenty would like to invite you to the Maketu Kaimoana Festival this Saturday, 16 February 2013. (Media passes are available on request.)
For over seven centuries the people of Maketu have enjoyed the abundance of the sea – this festival celebrates seafood in traditional and contemporary styles. A wide variety of ‘land food’ will also be available, as well as a selection of wines from the Hihi winery in Gisborne.
The festival will include performances from the Kougar Sistas, Captain Who, Harley Kruz, the B-Side Band, Raymond Solomon and the Sunrise Rockers.
Guests can watch the kite surfers, try their hand at paddle boarding, sit back and enjoy the wide variety of performances on the field or even experience a helicopter ride.
Where: Maketu Sports Ground
When: Midday – 6pm, Saturday 16 February
Cost: Adults $15, under 18s $10, under 5s free
