Unusual Incidents Mark a Busy Week for Faults Crews
ELECTRICITY
The blistering temperatures continue in the Auckland area with no real respite forecast until midweek.
Our electrical response crews attended five car v poles, one car v pillar and unusually, one car v house during the week.
A timely reminder to boaties occurred on Sunday with a boat on a trailer almost bringing down lines at Buckland’s Beach. The lines and pole were repaired using live line techniques, meaning no loss of power to customers in the area. Boat owners must check that they have sufficient clearance when travelling under power lines. Be aware that contact with these lines may result in shock, injury or death.
Crews were also asked by the Fire Service to isolate two properties on fire in Clendon and Remuera.
GAS TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION
Crews were called to two suspected gas incidents in Greenhithe where no traces of gas were found - it is believed that the smell was the diesel from heavy machinery nearby.
There was one third party strike on our network in Rodney caused by a contractor hitting the pipe. Repairs were made.
Please take care around our gas network and call 0508 B4 U WORK (248 967) or 0800 B4 U DIG if outside Auckland.
