$5,000 prize pool for rural recyclers

$5,000 prize pool for rural recyclers

Agrecovery Rural Recycling has a $5,000 prize pool up for grabs for farmers that recycle plastic agrichemical, biological, animal health and dairy hygiene containers during February and March.

Agrecovery container recycling provides a free, safe and fully compliant programme for the recycling of 59 eligible chemical waste container brands.

Horizons Regional Council’s compliance manager Alison Russell says the free programme is a great initiative for farmers to get rid of their containers.

“Lots of farmers have empty containers lying around in their sheds that they don’t know what to do with,” she says.

“Recycling them through Agrecovery resolves this problem and is an environmentally friendly way of disposing of the containers.

“Instead of going to a landfill the containers are disposed of safely and recycled here in New Zealand into a safe end use product such as underground cable covers,” says Ms Russell.

There are ten $500 rural supplier vouchers available for eligible containers and every collection receipt issued at one of 70 Agrecovery collection sites during February and March constitutes an entry into the draw.

To be eligible to go in the draw containers must still have their label on, be empty, triple rinsed and 60 litres or under in size.

The prize draw will be held on 26 April 2013. Winners will be notified within a week by email, post or phone.

For a list of participating container brand owners and to find details of your nearest collection site visit www.agrecovery.co.nz or freephone 0800 AGRECOVERY (247 326).
