Northland is not included in the potential tsunami threat to New Zealand issued by the Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management.
Northland Civil Defence Group controller Graeme MacDonald said the Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management (MCDEM) has issued a Tsunami Potential Threat advisory for EAST CAPE, GISBORNE, AUCKLAND EAST, NEW PLYMOUTH, WELLINGTON, MILFORD SOUND, NAPIER, WESTPORT.
The Potential Threat advisory will remain in effect until:
•It is upgraded to a Tsunami Warning, or
•A cancellation message is issued by MCDEM.
People in coastal areas should:
•Listen to the radio/TV for updates.
