Queenstown Gardens car parking
Visitors to the Queenstown Gardens will now find the search for a car park easier following a change to the parking restrictions.
Around 30 parks in the main car park have been designated P240 and Queenstown Lakes District Council transport manager Denis Mander says the aim is to make sure people who only need to park for a short period are catered for.
“We have to provide for everyone and currently Gardens users are disadvantaged with much of the parking taken up by all day users,” he said.
“By providing a number of P240 parks, we hope that Bowling Club and tennis court users as well as visitors to the Gardens will have improved access.”
The restriction applies Monday to Friday only and signage will be in place by the end of next week.
Mr Mander said there was still room for people who needed to park for longer periods.
“It’s about balancing needs and there is still ample unrestricted parking in the Gardens car park and also on Park Street,” he said.
