New Toilets Opened Across the Waikato District

New Toilets Opened Across the Waikato District

The opening of a replacement public toilet at Elbow Reserve on the Waikato River brings to four the number of new and replaced public toilets installed in the Waikato district in the past year, as the council responds to a request from residents for more modern toilets.

Elbow Reserve adds to the recently new public toilet at Rangiriri and replacement in Wainui Road Raglan, and Raglan Wharf as part of the rebuilding process. A replacement public toilet is proposed for Mercer in 2013 while a major upgrade for the Te Kauwhata public toilet is planned for 2014.

All the toilet upgrades were undertaken after feedback from the annual residents survey indicated a need for better public toilets across the district, Water and Facilities general manager Richard Bax said.

“Our customers were telling us that it is important for the district to have modern, safe and clean public toilets, and we have listened and responded to that feedback,” Mr Bax said.
