Council seeking nominations of people who help Keep Rotorua Beautiful
ROTORUA 10.01.13: Rotorua District Council (RDC) is encouraging local people to nominate those in the community who could potentially be recipients of one of this year’s Keep Rotorua Beautiful Awards.
Nominees must be locals who have made a difference to the beautification of Rotorua through activities such as picking up litter on a regular basis, removing tagging as a volunteer, or being involved in the outstanding renovation of a building.
There are two categories: Corporate Award and Community Award, and each will receive a trophy.
RDC’s Keep Rotorua Beautiful (KRB) coordinator Christine Findon says the KRB committee wants to know who in the community has gone the extra mile in the last year to help the city look good.
“There are lots of people who regularly do their bit to help keep the city beautiful without expecting any acknowledgement, so we may not know who they are.
"They may be individuals who organise litter pick-ups, or a business that has embraced recycling on a large scale, or perhaps an organisation that has completed a makeover of their premises and produced something really outstanding.
“There are all kinds of activities that could result in someone being selected as a worthy recipient of an award and we want to hear about it.”
Nominations can be made by contacting Christine Findon at Rotorua District Council on 07 351 8253, or by email to christine.findon@rdc.govt.nz. Entries close on Monday 4 February.
The annual Keep Rotorua Beautiful Awards function and announcement of winners will take place at the Rotorua District Council Civic Centre on Tuesday 19 March.
