Deliver Christmas Cheer to the Less Fortunate in
Auckland
FedEx Auckland team members with their gifts for the City Mission
AUCKLAND, December 20, 2012— FedEx Express team members in Auckland responded to the Auckland City Mission’s (Mission) appeal for donations by organising a Christmas collection drive. According to the Mission, it will provide 2000 emergency food parcels, distribute approximately 20,000 Christmas presents and host around 2500 people at New Zealand’s largest community Christmas Lunch this December.
Throughout December, FedEx Auckland employees became ‘Santa’s Helper’s’ and collected non-perishable and canned goods, as well as brand new gifts for less fortunate families and children.
“FedEx believes in giving
back to our local communities through action. I am proud of
our employees and their family members who have embraced the
spirit of giving by contributing to this worthy cause. It
has been a great way to finish off the year for our team
members,” said Lee Davies, Country Manager, FedEx Express
New Zealand.
FedEx is known for encouraging a spirit of
giving and volunteerism. Since launching FedEx Cares Week in
the U.S. in 2005, FedEx volunteers in New Zealand and around
the world have donated thousands of hours of their time to
serving the local communities each year.
