Start the New Year with a bang in the Capital of Cool
Fire up your New
Year’s Eve celebrations and witness Wellington light up
the skies in a finale of fireworks to welcome in 2013.
Before the big bang, rock out to some live music showcasing the best of both local and Kiwi talent.
From 7.30pm, you can listen to The Feelers play all your favourites from the past fifteen years at Chicago Sports Café.
The iconic New Zealand band will perform a half-hour acoustic set followed by 90 minutes of guitar-fuelled rock. Tickets are $40.
At 8pm the stages at Odlins Plaza on Taranaki Street Wharf and Frank Kitts Park will see acts including Adam Page, Bella Kalolo and Monophone ring in the New Year.
Those looking to please their palates can Dine and Dance at Whitby’s Restaurant from $45.00 while taking in great views of the city and harbour.
Alternatively, delight your senses with six courses at Amora Hotel for $90. Book before 28 December and you’ll receive a complimentary glass of Moet & Chandon champagne.
For some family fun, head to the waterfront for fire performances, and watch the littlies participate in a kids’ countdown at 9pm.
Those planning on staying up a bit later can enjoy, for the first time in over a decade, a five-minute fireworks display set to dazzle and delight at the stroke of midnight.
