TEDxTeAro SOLD OUT in 30 minutes and ready to roll in Te Aro!

TEDxTeAro is set to launch this weekend off the back of the excitement of The Hobbit premiere in the Capital.

Wellington is primed and ready for the launch of TEDxTeAro. Tickets sold out in just 30 minutes and the team have been blown away by the amazing support over the past 2 months.

“Watching the tickets sell out so quickly illustrates the strength of the TED brand plus the work the TEDxTeAro team have put into making this event so tempting. As this is the first public grown-up event in the capital, we’ve all been focussed on making it as awesome as we can, and hopefully the speaker line-up validates this,” says DK, TEDxTeAro licence holder and organizer.

At Te Papa this Saturday December 1st, 10 awesome speakers will be showcasing a spectrum of amazingly cool ideas from across the coolest little capital.

The list includes Anna Guenther co-founder and ‘chief bubble blower’ at New Zealand’s premier crowdfunding platform, Pledgeme, Parody rap producer, turned director of video production company Stem Creative, and revolutionary aerial imagery company Sycamore, Ben Forman, as well as Alex Hannant, chief executive of social enterprise incubator Hikurangi Foundation. For those who missed out on tickets, the event will be live streamed on tedxtearo.com and through the facebook pages of event partners CORE Education, Enspiral & Catalyst90 plus the two event sponsors and other supporters.

“As we understand it, this will be the first TEDx event in the Southern Hemisphere to use livestream technology across multiple facebook pages,” says Tom Reidy, CEO of Catalyst90, technical organisational partners who will be managing the streaming of the event.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to “ideas worth spreading”, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes, and has exploded onto the world stage in recent years.

“Wellington hasn’t been involved with TED since TEDxYouth@Wellington in 2010 and as a city we have a lot to share - so it’s fantastic to have had so much support to bring TEDx here,” says DK.

TEDxTeAro will be held at Te Papa this Saturday the 1st December, doors open at 1pm.
