Subway Kids Duathlon Summer Series Kicks Off on Sunday
This weekends Kids Duathlon in Wanaka presented by MORE FM and Subway is proving to be a big drawcard for local children of all ages.
Race registration will be open up to Sunday morning but More FM Promotions Manager Henry Youngman says online entries are looking steady.
“ It's a great day for the young people of this region who are so fortunate to grow up with an adventure playground in their backyard. This is a fun and competitive way that we can encourage them to get out and participate.”
The race is the first in a series of four events this summer in Wanaka, Queenstown, Cromwell and Alexandra. It will be held on Sunday 2nd December on the Wanaka lakefront from 11.15am and features a bike and run course along the foreshore.
Each age group category will compete over variable race lengths and a prize giving will follow which Mr Youngman says is always a highlight.
“ Having a go is important but so are the prizes and the place-getters always get a kick out of receiving a medal for first, second or third place. We have a great range of prizes from our very generous sponsors so everyone should go home with something.”
The Subway Duathlon series will continue into 2013 at Lake Hayes, Queenstown on the 24th February, Molyneux Park in Alexandra on the 3rd March and Andersons Park in Cromwell on the 7th April.
Mr Youngman says thanks to Subway, the series is a highlight on the summer calendar.
“ Subway are a great sponsor for this family event and their commitment to local kids enjoying a healthy lifestyle is second to none.”
Registrations are available online.
