Public feedback wanted on proposed changes for New North Road bus services
Auckland Transport and NZ Bus are proposing changes that will improve the frequency and reliability of bus services
travelling along New North Road.
By making better use of services, increasing frequencies and simplifying route numbers from fourteen to five, waiting
times will be reduced and passengers will be able to more easily identify the bus they require. The changes will also
reduce overcrowding on buses.
All future services will go via St Lukes and future services will be timetabled to create a frequency of at least one
bus every 15 minutes between Avondale and the City, 7am – 7pm, Monday to Friday. During peak hours buses will run
approximately every 5 minutes.
The changes will improve trip time through the city centre by taking the inbound services via Wellesley Street instead
of Waterloo Quadrant and will provide more capacity through Kingsland and Eden Terrace.
Some minor frequency bus services will be withdrawn and some routes will change, but overall the number of trips will
increase.
Services included in the review include: 200, 205, 210, 211, 211x, 212, 212x, 213, 213x, 215, 216, 219, 223, and 224.
The proposed changes are open for public feedback until 4pm, Friday 30 November 2012. For more information about the
proposal and feedback form go to www.at.co.nz/newnorthroad
It is anticipated these changes will be implemented in February 2013.
