Wellington ‘Festival for
Future’ Highlights Power of Social
Entrepreneurship
This weekend
over 300 creatives, entrepreneurs and community innovators
will converge at Wellingtonbased ‘Festival for the
Future’.
Now in its second year, this national event will bring together a diverse range of emerging leaders and passionate professionals to share ideas and inspiration from 1618 November at Te Papa.
Festival Director Guy Ryan founded the event to foster ideas to advance New Zealand. His focus is on making New Zealand a worldclass incubator for change.
Ryan says, “Innovation happens when you connect people from a range of backgrounds, expertise and skillsets to explore the big questions. We’ve designed an experience to bring people together in ways that are action and future orientated.” “It’s a really important opportunity for collective learning and new opportunities for collaboration across organisations, sectors and New Zealand as a whole.”
This year backed by Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, Wellington City Council, Leadership New Zealand, Massey University and Careers New Zealand, Festival for the Future originally grew out of Inspiring Stories, a youthfocused charitable trust founded by Ryan in 2011.
The Festival includes young innovators such as PledgeMe cofounder Anna Guenther, Jason Pemberton from the Student Volunteer Army and Sacha McMeeking, a past Fullbright Harkness Fellow.
Ryan says, “Social entrepreneurship is a viable way of connecting your passion with making a living. We can’t wait to see the new ideas, projects and enterprises that come out of this weekend.”
