Two Bursaries available for passionate students
Horizons Regional Council has two Bursaries available for students who are passionate about studying areas relevant to
Horizons work in 2013.
The Don Linklater Memorial Bursary was established to honour the contribution made to the Region by the late Don
Linklater, Horizons Chairman 1989-2000.
Each Bursary is worth up to $3,000 per year for up to three years and aims to support students studying at an
undergraduate level, either internally or extramurally, in areas such as resource management, river and drainage
engineering and environmental planning.
Horizons chairman Bruce Gordon says the Bursaries provide a fantastic opportunity for Horizons to support students who
are or are about to start studying in environmental fields.
“There is an increasing demand for people with skills in this area,” Mr Gordon says.
“To be eligible applicants must be New Zealand citizens or residents and plan to study full-time university study in
2013. They must also be from the Horizons Region, but may study outside of the Region.”
Anyone interested in applying for a Don Linklater Memorial Bursary can get an application form from www.horizons.govt.nz, Horizons Regional Council office in Palmerston North or by calling toll free 0508 800 800.
Applications must be received no later than 5pm 31 March 2013.
Bursary recipients will be selected by a panel of Horizons representatives made up of councillors and staff. Short
listed applicants will then meet with the selection panel.
